Our continuing coverage of Apple's development of Mac OS X 10.1, code-named Puma, noted that Apple was pushing for early September to hit the final gold master stage. Of course, that has not been the case, and some see Apple has cutting it uncharacteristically close to the projected ship date of next week. However, sources said that it was not any single major problem that prevented Puma from hitting gold master earlier, but was instead due to the continuing optimization.
